Tiny Fiddlers move, dance, sing, and "fiddle" on foam violin replicas ($22, one-time addtl) to lively folk songs and popular melodies. Children get a great start learning music by ear, practicing violin position and care, singing jovial songs, playing with rhythm sticks, dancing with scarves, and further developing fine and gross motor skills through eye/hand coordination games. Caregivers are encouraged to participate, helping to support the child's learning while modeling inclusion, engagement, play, and having fun together! This is a joyous class, full of musical exploration. Tiny Fiddlers is an on-going class that many families take repeatedly!

Fiddle Sprouts is a brand new violin class for our tiniest musicians who want to try a real violin! We will learn the basics of position, care, and will explore making our first sounds on the violin. This is a joyous class full of fiddling, playing with rhythm sticks, singing, movement, and music games. Priority will be given to those who have taken the Tiny Fiddlers class. Enrollment is limited to 5 students and caregivers are expected to be in class to support your child. We have a small inventory of rental instruments, please inquire.

Little Fiddlers is a beginning small group violin class rooted in folk music. Learn the basics of violin technique and how to play music through an engaging class of fiddling, rhythm sticks, singing, and music games. There is emphasis on violin posture and position to provide a solid foundation for continued success in learning. Enrollment is limited to 6 students per class. Young Fiddlers is a beginning violin class pulling from both folk and classical music. Participants may be graduates from Little Fiddlers but students are welcome to join this class with no prior lessons. We learn to play fun tunes, dig into violin technique, bow hold development, and build on rhythm skills. Tunes are taught by ear as well as with sheet music to develop note-reading. There is emphasis on posture and position to provide a solid foundation for continued learning. Enrollment is limited to 5 students per class. Rising Fiddlers is a violin class pulling from both folk and classical music. This class is for students who have taken the Young Fiddlers class and/or other music lessons for <1 year and are ready for a faster pace and deeper learning. Open to aspiring 5th grade beginners who would like a head start on their musical journey! Enrollment is limited to 5 students per class. Jr. Cellists is a beginning-to-intermediate class pulling from both folk and classical music traditions. Students are welcome to join this class with no prior lessons as well as those who have 1-2 years of school orchestra experience and wish to bump up their skills. We learn fun tunes, dig into cello technique, bow hold development, and learn music reading and rhythm skills. There is an emphasis on posture and position to provide a solid foundation for comfort and continued learning. Enrollment is limited to 5 students per class. STRING MAFIA (int/adv level) Teachers: Jessica Catron & Anna Grussling Dates: Tuesdays, June 18-August 20 Time: 7:00-8:30p $320 Violin/Vla Spots Remaining: 5 Cello/Bass Spots Remaining: 3 String players unite! This ensemble is open to violin, viola, cello, and contrabass players. We explore arrangements of pop tunes, old standards, classic hits, rock n' roll, and anything else we feel like playing. There are parts for all string players (violin, viola, cello, bass) from intermediate to advanced levels. Fun is always the focus, but other benefits include learning to independently play your own part in an ensemble, learning how to be a lead or supportive role, playing syncopated rhythms, reading in other clefs (cello), using extended techniques, chopping or holding a good groove...AND you can never have enough string players as friends. Come rock your socks with us! There will be an end-of-summer performance TBA.
Cello power! The Cello Brigade is for young cellists who might not yet be ready for the faster pace of String Mafia. We explore simpler but equally creative arrangements of pop tunes and classic hits made specifically for the players involved. Participation is for intermediate level players - those who can comfortably read bass clef and have explored outside of first position. Fun is always the focus, but other benefits include learning to independently play your own part in an ensemble, learning how to be a lead or supportive role, playing syncopated rhythms, holding a good groove...AND a power pack of cellists as friends! There will be a summer performance TBA.
CHAMBER MUSIC (advanced level) Teacher: Jessica Catron Dates: Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19 Time: 3:30-5:00p $120
There is so much great repertoire for string quartet, trio, quintet, octet...let's explore some of it! This intensive is open to all string players who have played their instruments for 5+ years and feel confident holding their own parts in an ensemble. We can double up on parts, so enrollment will be limited to 2-3 instruments per ensemble part.

Designed for budding musicians with at least one year of experience (reading music not required), our camp offers a dynamic blend of skill refinement and artistic exploration. Students will delve deeper into reading music, harmonize with fellow musicians in ensemble sessions, and ignite their creativity with a bunch of great tunes. FIDDLE CAMP (intermediate level) Teacher: Anna Grussling Dates: Monday, July 22 - Friday, July 26 Time: 1:30-3:00p $120
Designed for intermediate-level violinists (2-4 years of playing), this intensive will dive deep into fiddle tunes from different parts of the world, as well as a few ensemble pieces. Student will engage with the rich tradition of fiddling as they master new techniques and unleash the full potential of their instrument. From intricate bowing patterns to spirited improvisations, this camp is for those eager to explore the diversity in violin music. Join us for a week of musical exploration and growth!
AMPLIFY (advanced level) Teacher: Jessica Catron Dates: Monday, July 29-Friday, August 2 Time: 5:15-6:45p $120
This intensive allows participants to experiment and play around with amplification and effects pedals (delay, pitch shift, fuzz, looping, etc). We will have one cello with a pickup, one electric violin, a couple of amps, and a plethora of pedals to use. All you need to bring is an open mind and a playful spirit. Acoustic instruments are optional, but we will not be able to amplify them in the same way. Participants will learn and explore together with ample free time to experiment. Class size is limited to 3 students per instrument (3 violin/viola players and 3 cellists).

COMPOSING MUSIC: Music as a Tool for Self-Expression & Resiliency (int/adv) Teacher: Bill Kautz Date: Wednesday, July 17th Time: 10:00a-1:00p $65 Learn how to get that tune in your head or those little ear worms down on paper! Share your music with the world. Bring a notebook and a few good pencils. Sheet music provided.
RHYTHMS OF BRAZIL: Play the Samba (all ages) Teacher: Ed Stalling & Fransisco Marques Date: Tba Time: 6:00-8:00p $40 We are pleased to host multi-instrumentalist and Brazilian music specialist Fransisco Marques all the way from Costa Rica! Participants will learn the basics of the samba and other Brazilian rhythms on hand percussion (provided) as well as learning tips on how to apply these infectious rhythms to other instruments. This is a workshop open to all! Families welcome, no experience necessary. Space is limited, so don't wait!
MUSIC CAREERS: Beyond Performance (all ages) Teacher: Bill Kautz Date: Wednesday, July 31st Time: 10:00a-12:00p $30 Open to musicians and other curious folks! All ages welcome. Bring a notebook and enjoy learning about the rich and diverse world of music careers!
IMPROVISATION: Tools, Games, and Exploration (int/adv) Teacher: Bill Kautz Date: Thursday, August 8th Time: 6:00-9:00p $50 Open to all instruments and voices. Improvisation is one of the cornerstones of being a well-rounded musician. Not to be missed!
PERFORMANCE PREPARATION: Practice Techniques & Mental Tools (int/adv) Teacher: Jayla Mitchell Date: Wednesday, August 14th Time: 6:00-8:00p $30 Open to all instruments and voices. Learn effective practice techniques, how to learn from studying scores, using practice as a way to ease performance anxiety, and mental practices to prepare for success. Plan to bring your instrument and a piece you're working on.

Intensives and day camps cannot be prorated.
